Pre-Season Outlook
Addison is skinny (5-11, 173) and doesn't quite have top speed (4.49 40), but his phenomenal college production largely translated to the pros after Minnesota drafted him 23rd overall last year. He scored seven TDs over the first eight weeks while averaging 4.5 catches for 60.3 on 6.5 targets, emerging as a highly efficient Option C behind WR Justin Jefferson and TE T.J. Hockenson. A lengthy mid-season absence for Jefferson didn't alter Addison's production much, with the seemingly bigger impact being in the downward direction after QB Kirk Cousins suffered an Achilles' tear Week 8. Addison saw similar volume playing with backups (6.2 targets per game) but dropped from 9.3 yards per target to 7.7 and scored just three more TDs the rest of the year. He'll have to get it done without Cousins' help this year, though the Vikings are perhaps more prepared after signing Sam Darnold and drafting QB J.J. McCarthy tenth overall. They might also need Addison to do more early in the year, as it's unclear if Hockenson will be both healthy and productive after suffering an ACL tear in December.

Hits paydirt in season finale
Addison caught four of eight targets for 57 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 30-20 loss to the Lions.
Analysis: Addison and fellow wideout Justin Jefferson both played 93 percent of the Vikings' offensive snaps Sunday and dominated the overall target share among Minnesota pass catchers. Throughout his rookie season, Addison showed that he can be a key playmaker in the Minnesota passing attack alongside Jefferson and tight end T.J. Hockenson (knee) heading into 2024. While playing in all 17 games in 2023, Addison finished with 70 receptions for 911 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Suits up, makes three grabs
Addison (ankle) had three receptions on five targets for 28 yards in Sunday's 33-10 loss to the Packers.
Analysis: Addison's status for Sunday Night Football was in question earlier in the week when the wideout left last week's loss to the Lions with an ankle injury. The 21-year-old was able to suit up after a couple of limited practice sessions and escaped the blowout loss no worse for wear. Addison will get another week to inch closer to full health ahead of the rematch with Detroit in Week 18.

Active in Week 17
Addison (ankle) is listed as active Sunday versus the Packers, Craig Peters of the Vikings' official site reports.
Analysis: Addison departed the Vikings' Week 16 loss to the Lions with a sprained ankle and wasn't able to return to action. He then opened Week 17 prep with no activity before capping it with back-to-back limited sessions and entering the weekend with a questionable designation. Early Sunday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported that Addison was in line to play Sunday, and Minnesota has confirmed as much by not including him among its inactives. On track to play Sunday
Addison (ankle) remains listed as questionable but will be available to play Sunday against the Packers, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Though Rapoport previously reported that Addison was viewed as week-to-week after the wideout sustained an ankle sprain in the Vikings' 30-24 loss to the Lions last Sunday, the rookie ended up making swifter progress in his recovery than anticipated. After sitting out Wednesday's walk-through, Addison concluded Week 17 prep with a pair of limited practices to create more optimism that he would be available for Sunday. Listed as questionable
Addison (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Packers, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: While unable to rejoin Sunday's loss to Detroit following his ankle injury in the second quarter, Addison returned to practice Thursday as a limited participant and now heads into the weekend looking truly questionable after another limited practice Friday. A game-time call would be tricky for a lot of fantasy managers, as the Vikings and Packers are the final matchup of the week with kickoff scheduled for 8:20 p.m. ET on Sunday. Returns as limited participant
Addison (ankle) practiced in a limited capacity Thursday.
Analysis: After being held out of Wednesday's walkthrough, Addison was able to handle some on-field work one day later as he looks to miss no game action due to the ankle sprain that he suffered this past Sunday against the Lions. Head coach Kevin O'Connell called Addison "day-to-day" Tuesday, per Kevin Seifert of ESPN.com, but it remains to be seen if the rookie first-round pick will sidestep a designation ahead of Sunday's matchup with the Packers. No activity at walkthrough
Addison (ankle) was listed as a non-participant on Wednesday's practice estimate.
Analysis: The Vikings held a walkthrough instead of an actual practice to begin Week 17 prep, but Addison didn't mix into any on-field work as he tends to the ankle sprain that he suffered during this past Sunday's loss to the Lions. On Tuesday, head coach Kevin O'Connell called Addison "day-to-day," per Kevin Seifert of ESPN.com, so the rookie wide receiver seemingly has a chance to suit up Sunday against the Packers. Deemed day-to-day by head coach
Head coach Kevin O'Connell classified Addison (ankle) as day-to-day Tuesday and wasn't willing to rule the receiver out for Sunday's game against the Packers, Kevin Seifert of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: O'Connell didn't go into many details regarding the severity of the ankle sprain that forced Addison out of this past Sunday's 30-24 loss to the Lions, but the "day-to-day" label paints a rosier picture of the rookie wideout's health after Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported Monday that he was being considered week-to-week. Viewed as week-to-week
Addison is considered week-to-week due to the ankle sprain he sustained during Sunday's 30-24 loss to the Lions, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Per Rapoport, added context regarding Addison's status should arrive once the wideout undergoes further tests Monday. Prior to his exit from Sunday's contest, the wideout played 21 of 55 snaps on offense, catching one of his four targets for two yards. If Addison is forced to miss this weekend's contest against the Packers, both K.J. Osborn and Brandon Powell would be in store for expanded reps behind No. 1 wideout Justin Jefferson.

Ruled out for rest of game
Addison (ankle) won't return to Sunday's game against the Lions, Kevin Seifert of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: He'll remain sidelined for the entire second half of the Week 16 contest after sustaining the ankle injury during the return of a Lions interception with just under three minutes remaining in the second quarter. Addison finishes the day with one catch for two yards on four targets.

Suffers ankle injury Sunday
Addison exited Sunday's game against the Lions due to an ankle injury, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Addison visited the sideline tent after quarterback Nick Mullens' second interception of the game, when the rookie was the intended receiver. If Addison is unable to return, he'll finish Week 16 with one catch (on four targets) for two yards. K.J. Osborn and Brandon Powell are poised for more work alongside Justin Jefferson during Addison's absence.

Huge game Saturday
Addison caught six passes for 111 yards and two touchdowns on six targets in the 27-24 overtime loss to the Bengals on Saturday.
Analysis: It was an improbable resurgence from Addison, as the rookie seemed likely to fall to the margins, as Justin Jefferson and T.J. Hockenson were expected to claim the majority of Vikings' targets. Addison's talent was obvious early in his rookie year, but he had predictably struggled somewhat after the season-ending injury to Kirk Cousins. This game from Addison raises the hope that he might get on a roll again despite Cousins' absence. The Week 16 matchup with Detroit is likely a favorable one…read more

Makes little impact in Vegas
Addison caught two of three targets for 27 yards in Sunday's 3-0 win over the Raiders.
Analysis: Justin Jefferson (chest) left the game in the second quarter and didn't return, but Addison didn't see a significant increase in his production afterward -- in fact, the two wideouts finished the game with identical numbers. The rookie has now failed to score a touchdown or reach 70 receiving yards in five straight games since Kirk Cousins (Achilles) was lost for the season. Modest production with six catches
Addison secured six of 10 targets for 39 yards in the Vikings' 12-10 loss to the Bears on Monday.
Analysis: Addison led the Vikings in receptions and targets but finished third in receiving yards. Outside of his 14-yard grab, Addison averaged only 5.0 yards per reception, leading to his lowest tally in that category since his first encounter with the Bears back in Week 6. Justin Jefferson (hamstring) should have a good chance of returning to action for Minnesota's Week 14 road matchup against the Raiders following a Week 13 bye, so Addison could well see a downturn in targets beginning with that game.

Limited to three catches in loss
Addison secured three of six targets for 44 yards in the Vikings' 21-20 loss to the Broncos on Sunday night.
Analysis: Addison finished third in receiving yards despite checking in second in targets for the Vikings on the night, as he took a rare back seat to multiple pass catchers in a game that was played with Justin Jefferson (hamstring) still unavailable. Addison's catch and yardage tallies were his lowest over the last five games, and with Jefferson potentially set to return for a Week 12 Monday night clash against the Bears on Nov. 27, Addison could soon officially slot back into a No. 2 role.

Held back by game script
Addison recorded four receptions on seven targets for 69 yards in Sunday's 27-19 win over the Saints.
Analysis: The entirety of Addison's production came in the first half, as the Vikings jumped out to a 24-3 lead and were conservative in the final two quarters. While he was overshadowed by T.J. Hockenson, Addison earned at least seven targets and topped 50 yards for the fourth consecutive game. He's retained volume in two games without Kirk Cousins (Achilles), but the impending return of Justin Jefferson (hamstring) will change the dynamic of the offense.

Touchdown streak ends
Addison recorded five receptions on seven targets for 52 yards in Sunday's 31-28 win over the Falcons.
Analysis: Addison struggled to get going with either Joshua Dobbs or Jaren Hall (concussion) under center. He did make timely catches, including a 13-yard catch just before halftime to set up a touchdown for the Vikings as well as a 24-yard reception to get into Falcons territory on the game-winning touchdown drive. Finds end zone again Sunday
Addison caught seven of eight targets for 82 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 24-10 win over the Packers.
Analysis: The rookie wideout caught a 20-yard strike from Kirk Cousins (Achilles) in the third quarter for the Vikings' final points of the afternoon, extending his TD streak to four games and giving Addison seven touchdowns in his first eight NFL games. Unfortunately for the Vikings' passing game, Cousins' day ended early with what's feared to be a torn Achilles that would cost the QB the rest of the season. Addison scored from 20 and 60 yards out in the first and second quarters, respectively, pushing his season touchdown total to six. Addison (cramps) has returned to Monday's matchup with the 49ers, Andrew Krammer of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Addison is questionable to return to Monday's contest against the 49ers due to cramps, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports.

Three catches without Jefferson
Addison secured three of five targets for 28 yards and a touchdown in the Vikings' 19-13 win over the Bears on Sunday.
Analysis: Addison served as the de facto No. 1 receiver in Justin Jefferson's (IR-hamstring) absence, but he made much less of an impact than what fantasy managers might have expected coming in. Nevertheless, Addison finished tied with K.J. Osborn for the team lead in targets among wide receivers, and his 10-yard touchdown grab with 12 seconds remaining in the first half made it a serviceable fantasy day overall. Cleared for Week 6 game
Addison (ankle) was a full participant in Friday's practice and doesn't carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against the Bears.
Analysis: Addison's practice reps were managed Wednesday and Thursday, but his full session Friday clears the way for him to enter the Vikings' Week 6 matchup with no restrictions. The rookie first-round pick had already played north of 70 percent of the snaps on offense in three of the team's first five games, but his playing time and target volume should tick up further Sunday after star wideout Justin Jefferson (hamstring) was placed on injured reserve earlier this week. Analysis: The rookie wideout had his practice reps capped for the second day in a row on account of an ankle issue, but if he's able to upgrade to full participation Friday, it would likely clear up any concern fantasy managers have about his availability for Sunday's game against the Bears. Tending to ankle issue
Addison was a limited participant in practice Wednesday due to an ankle injury, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: The Vikings are already down top wide receiver Justin Jefferson due to a hamstring injury that isn't believed to be season-ending. However, Jefferson's placement on injured reserve Wednesday opens the door for Addison to step into a major role in the offense. Chance to step in as No. 1 wideout
Addison could see additional targets and snaps over Minnesota's next four games after No. 1 receiver Justin Jefferson (hamstring) was placed on injured reserve Wednesday, Craig Peters of the Vikings' official site reports.
Analysis: Addison and K.J. Osborn are likely to see more looks than usual while Jefferson -- who averaged 10.6 targets per game through the first five weeks of the season -- recovers from his hamstring injury. The rookie already has been a strong contributor to Minnesota's offense with more than 50 yards in four of his first five games to go along with three touchdowns, though he also had a game with no catches Week 4 at Carolina (when Kirk Cousins attempted only 19 passes). Bounces back with strong showing
Addison caught six of nine targets for 64 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 27-20 loss to Kansas City.
Analysis: After failing to catch a pass last week against the Panthers, Addison bounced back and led the Vikings in receptions and yardage while grabbing his third TD in five NFL games on a five-yard toss from Kirk Cousins late in the second quarter. The rookie wideout emerged as Cousins' most reliable option in the fourth quarter while Justin Jefferson was sidelined with a hamstring injury, and if Jefferson isn't ready to return in Week 6 against the Bears, Addison could be in line for a big performance.

Invisible in win
Addison was not targeted in Sunday's 21-13 win over the Panthers.
Analysis: Addison's goose egg came while quarterback Kirk Cousins managed just 139 passing yards and threw two interceptions, including one that was returned 99 yards for a touchdown. Besides star wideout Justin Jefferson, no Minnesota player caught more than two passes, so Addison wasn't alone in his Week 4 struggles. With a matchup against the high-powered Chiefs next Sunday, Addison could be featured more in order for the Vikings to keep pace.

Overshadowed in loss
Addison recorded six receptions on eight targets for 52 yards in Sunday's 28-24 loss to the Chargers.
Analysis: Addison had only one target and no receptions in the first half despite Kirk Cousins taking to the air 20 times. That changed in the second half, as he took on an expanded role while working primarily in short areas of the field. While it wasn't his biggest statistical performance of the season, Addison garnered a season-best eight targets and should continue to see his role in the offense grow.

Addison secured three of five targets for 72 yards and a touchdown in the Vikings' 34-28 loss to the Eagles on Thursday night.

Could get more snaps in future
Vikings offensive coordinator Wes Phillips said this week that he thinks Addison's role will expand as the season progresses, Andrew Krammer of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: The rookie first-round pick debuted as Minnesota's No. 3 receiver in a 20-17 loss to Tampa Bay, playing 56 percent of snaps while Justin Jefferson and K.J. Osborn both were above 90 percent. The workload was enough for Addison to have a productive day, as he ran 35 routes and caught four of six targets for 61 yards and a touchdown. Head coach Kevin O'Connell said Wednesday that Addison cleared the concussion protocol, Andrew Krammer of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: In his return to team drills at Wednesday's joint practice with the Cardinals, Addison mixed in with the Vikings' No. 1 offense in three-receiver sets and even made a nice touchdown catch in traffic, per Ben Goessling of the Minneapolis Star Tribune. After spending exactly one week in the concussion protocol, Addison appears to be good to go moving forward, but it's unclear if he'll see action in Minnesota's preseason finale Saturday against Arizona.

Practicing in no-contact jersey
Addison (concussion) is at Monday's practice in a no-contact jersey, Kevin Seifert of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: It's a step forward after coach Kevin O'Connell revealed last Wednesday that Addison had entered concussion protocol. The rookie is still in the protocol but at least has made enough progress to participate in a light practice. Addison caught one pass for 22 yards in Minnesota's preseason opener, and regardless of whether or not that ends up being his final appearance in August, he's well on his way to playing Week 1 at Tampa Bay (Sept. 10).

Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell said Wednesday that Addison is in the concussion protocol, Ben Goessling of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

As a result, he looks set to miss Saturday's preseason contest against the Titans, giving him just one more chance to see game action before the Vikings' Sept. 10 season opener versus the Buccaneers. One catch in NFL debut
Addison caught one of three targets for 22 yards in Thursday's 24-13 preseason loss to the Seahawks.
Analysis: Addison nearly secured a nice gain with a toe drag along the sideline in the first quarter, but the play was ruled out of bounds. His first NFL catch came on the first play of the second quarter and resulted in a 22-yard gain. Despite this modest stat line in his NFL debut, the 2023 first-round pick projects to play a prominent role in his rookie season. After seeing limited action Thursday, Addison may get more usage in Minnesota's second preseason game, Aug. 19 against Tennessee.

Set to play Thursday
Addison will play in Thursday's preseason contest at Seattle, head coach Kevin O'Connell told the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
Analysis: It's not clear how many snaps he'll play, but the 2023 first-rounder will get his first game action as a professional. K.J. Osborn is listed as the No. 2 wide receiver ahead of Addison on Minnesota's first unofficial depth chart of the preseason. However, Addison has looked sharp in camp so far with good chemistry with quarterback Kirk Cousins, so he's still the favorite to emerge as the team's No. 2 wide receiver with a significant role.

Not starter on preseason depth chart
K.J. Osborn is listed as the No. 2 wide receiver ahead of Addison on Minnesota's first unofficial depth chart of the preseason. Osborn may get more snaps this season as the team's "F" receiver as he'll frequently be used as a blocker, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Osborn may also be listed ahead of Addison to begin the preseason as the team may give deference to the veteran. It's also possible Osborn plays more snaps on offense this year, but Addison gets more targets. Addison has looked sharp in camp so far with good chemistry with quarterback Kirk Cousins, so we wouldn't be too worried about this early preseason listing. Still, Addison's ability to be used in run blocking could be something to watch to ensure he gets more playing time.

Full participant in camp
Addison was a full practice participant Wednesday, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: His first few months as a pro have been more eventful than he'd like, with Addison missing May/June practices due to an undisclosed injury and then in July receiving a citation for driving 140 miles per hour (in a 55 mph zone). He's apparently moved past the injury, and history suggests the NFL is unlikely to suspend him for a speeding violation that doesn't involve alcohol or other substances (especially if he can prove his reported claim that he was driving so fast because his dog had a…read more

Cited for driving 140 mph
Addison (undisclosed) was cited Thursday for driving 140 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone, Kevin Seifert of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Speeding tickets don't usually lead to league discipline, but this one will get the NFL's attention and might eventually lead to a fine and/or a short suspension. The 23rd overall pick in this year's draft was cited around 3:00 a.m. CT on Thursday for speeding and reckless driving, three days before rookies report to Vikings training camp. Addison isn't off to the best start in the NFL, first missing spring practices with an undisclosed injury and now dealing with a legal problem.

In line to return by training camp
Addison (undisclosed) is expected to be healthy by the time training camp starts in late July, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Since getting banged up during rookie minicamp in early May, Addison has been held out of both OTAs and the start of mandatory minicamp. When he's healthy, the 23rd overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft is slated to serve as a complement to top wide receiver Justin Jefferson in the Vikings' passing game.

Not practicing at OTAs
Addison (undisclosed) did not practice Tuesday, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: The Vikings' first-round pick at No. 23 overall, Addison was injured during the rookie minicamp earlier this month and is being held out of OTAs for "precautionary reasons," according to coach Kevin O'Connell, who added that the issue is "nothing serious at all." Addison was at least in attendance Tuesday but only as a spectator. Perhaps he'll be cleared for mandatory minicamp next month.
